  1. The quality? The inversion? What, specifically? If it's major (i.e. minor third stacked on top of a major third...something like C-E-G), it should have an 'M' beneath it. Minor (major third on top of a major third...C-Eb-G) should have a lower case 'm.' Diminished (minor third plus minor third, or lowered fifth, or C-Eb-Gb) will be labeled with a little...er..."degree" symbol. Augmented (major third plus major third, or raised fifth, or C-E-G#...make sure it's G# and not Ab, because if you're labeling independent triads, Ab will make it an entirely different chord. All the notes must be within the same key. G# isn't in C, but it's still a G) has a plus sign. Always label by the root of the chord, even if the root is not at the bottom. If you're given C-E-G#, your label will be C+. If you have C-E-G, ithe label is CM. C-Eb-G, the label is Cm. And so on... Now, what IF the root is not the bottom? This is an inversion, and if you're lucky enough to only need to deal with triads, there are only two. If the third is on the bottom (E-C-G, or something similar, the order of the other notes doesn't matter. Just look at the bottom note), you're in first inversion and should label the chord with a '6'. If the fifth is on the bottom (G-C-E), it's second inversion and should be labeled '6/4' (6 should be stacked on top of 4 the way you'd label a time sig). The inversion label, if any, should come after the quality, so if you have Eb-C-G, your label will be Cm6. G#-C-E=C+6/4 I hope I've covered what you need!
  2. Depends on the Triad. if it is Major you label like so- for instance CM Capital M stands for major small case for minor. diminished is C with a tiny circle slightly elevated behind the C or Cdim. Augmented would be C+ or C Aug. minor would look like this cm,cdim, etc.
